Guilhem Grosperrin is the arguably world's finest Cognac hunter.
Armed with an incredible network and an even greater palette, he has built his reputation over the last 20 years unearthing barrels of vintage Cognac hidden deep in professional and private cellars across the region.
His expertise goes beyond simple selection, however. Guilhem is an expert "éleveur", someone who ages spirits in their own cellar. The Cognac Grosperrin cave in the town of Saintes is a veritable treasure trove of vintage spirits, a living history of the Cognac region preserved in barrels and demi-johns. The tasting on our last visit was varied and deep, ranging from twenty-five year old Bois Ordinaires to legendary Grand Champagnes dating well over 100 years.
Needless to say, we are extremely proud to represent Cognac Grosperrin in the United States!

Some history about Cognac Grosperrin from the house itself:
"Grosperrin Cognac’s roots may remain firmly in its 18th-century brokerage past, but today it offers a ground-breaking range of products not found anywhere else in Cognac.
In 1999, frustrated at seeing truly special batches disappearing into massive blends, Guilhem's father Jean Grosperrin bought a few casks of old cognac, which his family bottled on a small scale. And for the first time ever in Cognac, he told the story behind each of the batches and stated their age on the bottle… and thus Grosperrin Cognac was born.
When Jean retired in 2004, Guilhem took over the company with a passionate desire to reveal the intrinsic spirit of Charente heritage, which became his motto. Building stocks, he enhanced the cellar collections with selections of truly exceptional cognacs inherited by families or by groups who alone were privy to the contents.
In the the Grosperrin Cognac cellars, each batch – through the immediacy of each vintage, carefully selected and aged – has become the living testimony of a terroir and a family history."
