Lemorton Pommeau
Bottled: 2025 | ABV: 17%
Appellation: Pommeau de Normandie

Pommeau is a delicious Normandy aperitif enjoyed across the region, made from freshly-pressed apple (or pear juice) cut with a young Calvados — the same process as Pineau de Charentes in Cognac.

Perhaps one of the most unique Pommeaux in all of Calvados because of the pear — the Domfrontais region where the Lemortons are located is the only area in the vast production zone of Calvados to permit pear growing.

The Lemortons blend a 3-year old Calvados into freshly-pressed juice, everything is aged about a year and a half in big foudres and then bottled.

A classic example of pommeau, it’s an incredibly direct transmission of fruit from orchard to glass. You can see the house’s deep rich signature style come through with notes of caramel, buttered apple, flambeed pear and toasted marshmallow. In addition to being served as an aperitif or in a cocktail, this would be excellent as a digestif, with a cigar or reduced and poured over vanilla ice cream.
